Dr. Tanya Holthus, PsyD, SEP
People who have worked with me have described me as warm, compassionate, easy to talk to, empathetic, and reliable. I love my work as a Relationship and Wellness Coach. I will go to bat for you and I will work hard for you.
My Approach
I use an integrative approach of many modalities to fit the unique needs of each person. I offer relationship coaching including parenting of all ages, attachment and conflict repair, increasing attunement and connection, navigating divorce, coparenting, implementing healthy boundaries, and dating. I also provide Somatic Experiencing to assist with nervous system regulation in order to provide increased sense of serenity in your body and life.
Relationship and Wellness Coaching - I, The Coach, adopt The International Coach Federation’s definition of coaching quoted in part which is as follows:
Professional Coaching is an ongoing professional relationship that helps people produce extraordinary results in their lives, careers, businesses, or organizations. Through the process of coaching, clients deepen their learning, improve their performance, and enhance their quality of life.
In each meeting, the client chooses the focus of the conversation, while the coach listens and contributes observations and questions. This interaction creates clarity and moves the client into action. Coaching accelerates the client’s progress by providing greater focus and awareness of choice. Coaching concentrates on where clients are now and what they are willing to do to get where they want to be in the future. Coaches recognize that results are a matter of the client’s intentions, choices, and actions, supported by the coach’s efforts and application of the coaching process.
You can expect that I, your Coach, will be honest and direct, asking straightforward questions and using challenging techniques to help you move forward.
Somatic Experiencing – I have certification as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP). This is a form of practice that involves use of the body’s physiology to help promote nervous system regulation. It combines cognition and meaning with a focus on bodily sensations, movements, and sometimes touch work. It is incredibly powerful and enhances the success of mind and body wellness tremendously. https://traumahealing.org/
Anchored Relational Theoretical framework (formerly AIR Network) – “The Anchored Relational Framework is a dignity based, developmental and multicultural understanding of who people are,” (Patti Miller, MA, LP, Cofounder and Trainer; and Phyllis Solon, PsyD, LP, Cofounder and Trainer). This is a client centered and competency-based form of support that involves identifying different parts of the neurology that develop over the lifespan, and how to help these parts increase cohesion. “Clients are forming a primary relationship with self where they can practice both Relational Autonomy, being separate from others, and Relational Cohesion, being in connection with others and themselves,” (https://www.airnetworktraininginstitute.com/air-network-model-gials). I have been most recently trained in this modality and have already found it to be highly effective for all clients, especially those who feel stuck and that they have already tried everything else. Within a coaching role, I can use this for development of one’s Most Resourced Self (authentic self/identity) and developing cohesion amongst parts of themselves that may act as barriers to current or future goals and/or functioning. As a coach, I will not use this for therapy, memory work, or trauma reprocessing, but am happy to provide referrals if needed.
I am also trained in a wide variety of evidenced based coping skills. Please reach out with any questions about modalities, or if you are wondering about a specific form of coaching.
I strive to help you recognize your strengths and resilience and use this as a tool to help foster growth.
